Why the need for different size tools if one tool can fix any thread? Great question, Some tools can reach further down threaded rods, like the RT2L. Some handle better on larger more coarser threads, like the RT5. Some need to get into small holes, like the RT1. All do the same thing, but give you an added advantage. How can one tool restore all of these types of threads? Inch, Metric, and Pipe all use a 60 degree profile angle (see illustration), not many people realize this, therefore since Rotary Thread Files work with a single crest and root of the thread, then pitches do not matter anymore. RT can fix nearly any pitch*, in the inch, metric, and pipe family of threads. In the master kit there are 5 different tools to work with Inch, Metric, and Pipe Threads. All 5 tools do the same thing, and work the same way fixing male and/or female threads with the same tool. * Rotary Thread is the industries only ACME, BUTTRESS, and SQUARE thread restoration tools. All of these tools require mandrel RTM5 (typically sold separately but 2 are included in Master Kit) There are 5 shapes in this lineup. RT5A is the ACME disc, and RT5B is used for Buttress threads. The RT4S1, RT5S1, and RT5S2 can all be used for square threads. RT4S1 and RT5S1 both have 1mm widths, where as RT5S2 is 2mm wide. Rotary Thread isn't limited to just threads. With this tool group, you are now able to restore, debur and clean rack and pinions, gear teeth, keyways, snap-ring grooves, retention grooves, and other machine components. Use the face of the disc to restore the walls of the grooves and the edge to restore the bottom. The final category is Groove and Gland faces. The tool of choice is the RT3S1. The RT3S1 was design to be under 1 inch in diameter so that it could fit into many smaller ports and holes found in many hydraulic and pneumatic applications where it is necessary to clean up pistons and gland faces and ports where seals sit. The 25mm diameter is idea for this giving the user better access into the smaller holes and allowing them to clean the faces and bottoms of grooves. Rotary Thread's restore tools make quick work of aggravating dings and dents on bolts. No more frustration looking for the right tool. One tool, that's all. Inside thread damage can happen, don't worry about searching for a tap or trying to figure out what pitch you are dealing with. Fix inside threads fast and easy. Quick opens up areas that have been damaged and are preventing snap-rings from going on correctly. Fixing problems like this often resulted in using dangerous cut-off wheels that do more damage than good. Like snap-ring grooves, Keyways often get their share of damage in the field. Simply run the tool down the side of the slot and help cleanup any dents and dings that may be preventing proper function.
