Dongar's journey began when a semi-truck recklessly collided into and totaled our founder Kevin's car. Years later, finally able to purchase a new car – and eager to protect it – Kevin immediately purchased a dash cam. However, inside the dash cam box was a disappointing sight: a mess of cables permanently affixed to a 'cigarette lighter' style adapter. Unwilling to have wires all over his car or deal with a cumbersome installation process, Kevin took matters into his own hands – he created a small and easy-to-install adapter to power his dash cam, and Dongar was born. Unlike some adapters that involve hiding and wrapping wires around your car (or worse – leaving them dangling across your windshield), Dongar adapters plug directly into your rearview mirror, ensuring a hassle-free setup and distraction-free driving for you. Before ordering, confirm your vehicle's compatibility by using our compatibility chart. Installation is simple! With your vehicle turned off, simply unplug the power source from your rearview mirror and replace it with the Dongar Dash Cam Power Adapter. To do this you can depress the plastic push tabs on the connector and unplug it from the mirror. Once your adapter is connected to your mirror, plug both your Dash Cam and original power source into the adapter. Our dual power design provides power to both your dash cam and your mirror.

• •COMPATIBLE VEHICLES: Examples of compatible vehicles for this rearview mirror dash cam include: select Mazda models, including the Mazda 6 (with auto-dimming mirror and sensor shroud, 2017-2021), MX-30 (with auto-dimming mirror and sensor shroud, 2020-2023), CX-5 (w/ auto-dimming mirror and sensor shroud, 2017-2023), and more. • •EXTENDED COMPATIBILITY: In some cases (for example, in some of the CX series) you may have two available ports – one exposed port as well as a shrouded mirror covering another port. In this instance we recommend using installing our 10-Pin Type A into the exposed port for a faster and easier installation (although you can choose to install the 10-Pin Type E under the shroud for a more OEM looking result).
• •AUTO-DIMMING REQUIREMENT: This Dongar dash cam adapter requires an auto-dimming or powered rearview mirror (such as a mirror with garage buttons) to function. Adapter will fit under rearview mirror protective plastic cover
• •IGNITION-ACTIVATED POWER: This adapter powers your dash cam or other USB-powered device when your vehicle's ignition is ON – it is not intended for parking mode or other constant power applications. By turning on only when your vehicle is on, it eliminates any danger of draining your car’s battery.
