The Keyhole Companion solves this by attaching to keyhole slots and marking where the fasteners need to go on the surface. Mount Simply attach the Keyhole Companion tools in the keyhole slots of the object you want to hang. Mark After pressing it against the surface, each tool leaves an "X" to show where to install fasteners. Done One and done. To ensure the Keyhole Companion works with the widest range of keyhole slots and hardware, three built-in interchangeable interfaces are included. Simply select the interface that matches the slot type, and screw it into the center post. Any TIPS when using the Keyhole Companion? 1) Choose the correct interface for the slot type. 2) Push the product to the end of the slot while tightening. 3) Product needs to be perpendicular to the surface when tightened (if tilted, spacers can be used to make it perpendicular). For KEYHOLE SLOTS ON A SMALL RAISED SURFACE (like a pedestal) the tool tilts when tightened. How do I prevent that? An adapter can be made using a 7/8” diameter or larger fender washer with #6 or 5/32” or larger center hole (available at hardware stores). Simply unscrew the flat interface, put it through the washer, and re-install the interface with the washer. Using FLAT NARROW ADD-ON KEYHOLE SLOT hardware, the Keyhole Companion tilts when tightened. How do I prevent that? An adapter can be made by placing a spacer (like a wood coffee stirrer) adjacent to each long side of the hardware. The Keyhole Companion will then rest on the spacers and tighten perpendicular to the object surface. Using FLAT ROUND ADD-ON KEYHOLE SLOT hardware, the Keyhole Companion tilts when tightened. How do I prevent that? • For surface mounted, a spacer will typically be needed under one end of the Keyhole Companion in order to have it tighten perpendicular. • For recessed, two spacers may be needed, one of them long enough to fully bridge the recess diameter. What do I do if there's NOT ENOUGH GRIP-RANGE (interface extension) to mount the Keyhole Companion in the keyhole slot? Insufficient grip-range (interface extension) can occur if the keyhole slot material is too thick, if a recess is cut too deep, or as a result of the use of spacers. The remedy is to partially unscrew the interface to increase the product grip range.
